Lip Filler

What is lip filler treatment?

Lip filler treatment uses hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler to increase volume or rehydrate the lips for a natural result. Lip filler treatment can also be used to reduce asymmetry, create subtle changes in shape and improve laxity of lip and surrounding areas.

Dermal filler treatment is performed using hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers which are created to mimic the naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid made by our bodies. When injected, the product rehydrates, smooths and re-volumizes the tissue of the lip.

Lip filler is a relatively comfortable procedure. The use of topical numbing cream and distraction tools aid to increase comfort during your treatment.

Before treatment:

  • If possible, avoid unnecessary blood thinning products for at least 24 hours prior to treatment to limit the risk of bruising. This includes but is not limited to: alcoholic beverages, advil, aleve, vitamin E, gingko, fish oil, and omega 3. Please reach out if you have questions about additional supplements or medications that may impact your treatment, (902) 200-0043.
  • Dermal filler treatment must be booked no sooner than 14 days before or after a dental appointment or vaccination of any kind
  • Arrive for your appointment with a clean face, free of makeup

After treatment:

  • Avoid touching, manipulating or placing direct pressure on the treated area.
  • Avoid makeup, strenuous activity or extreme heat such as hot tubs or saunas for 24 hours.
  • Sleep on your back for at least 3 days post treatment

An initial appointment can take up to 1 hour, during which a thorough medical history and consultation with one of our nurses and nurse practitioner will be completed. This is to ensure you are a good candidate for treatment and that your treatment is customized to your unique goals.

The treatment itself takes approximately 15 minutes. During which your provider may use a vibration tool and topical numbing cream to increase comfort.

While every patient metabolizes the product at different rates, lip filler results will typically last between 6-12 months on average. Longevity of treatment results can be expected to increase with subsequent treatments.

It is important to seek out an experienced provider to perform your lip filler treatment. Unnatural results and complications may occur due to using the wrong dosage, wrong placement or wrong product for your specific needs.
