Microneedling

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a treatment used to smooth, tone and repair a wide range of skin concerns by increasing collagen and elastin in the skin. Microneedling effectively treats fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, pigmentation, sun damage, textural issues and more.

Microneedling uses multiple very tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. Those micro-injuries trigger a natural repair process in the skin, increasing production of collagen and elastin and visibly improving skin tone and texture.

Microneedling is a relatively painless procedure. Topical numbing cream is applied prior to treatment to increase comfort.

This includes but is not limited to: alcoholic beverages, advil, aleve, vitamin E, gingko, fish oil, and omega 3. The treatment itself takes approximately 15 minutes. Your provider will apply topical numbing cream for 20 minutes prior and will provide distraction tools for increased comfort.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) contains growth factors that can stimulate tissue repair and promote collagen production. When combined with microneedling, PRP can amplify the regenerative effects of the treatment, leading to potentially better and more noticeable results in terms of skin rejuvenation and texture improvement.

Choosing between PRP microneedling and regular microneedling often depends on the individual’s specific needs and desired outcomes. Here are some reasons why someone might opt for PRP microneedling over regular microneedling:

  • Enhanced Results: PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) contains growth factors that can stimulate tissue repair and promote collagen production. When combined with microneedling, PRP can amplify the regenerative effects of the treatment, leading to potentially better and more noticeable results in terms of skin rejuvenation and texture improvement.
  • Hair Restoration: PRP microneedling is a popular choice for individuals dealing with hair loss or thinning hair. The growth factors in PRP can help stimulate hair follicles, leading to increased hair growth and density. It is considered a valuable option for individuals seeking non-surgical solutions for hair restoration.
  • Skin Rejuvenation and Anti-Aging Benefits: The combination of PRP with microneedling can enhance skin rejuvenation efforts. It can help minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage, as well as improve skin tone and texture. The growth factors in PRP can assist in improving overall skin health and youthful appearance.
  • Natural and Safe: Since PRP uses the patient’s own blood components, there is a reduced risk of allergic reactions or adverse side effects. It is a safe and natural approach to promote healing and rejuvenation without the use of synthetic substances.
  • Targeted Treatment: PRP can be customized to address specific concerns. The growth factors in PRP work to encourage the body’s natural healing response, allowing for targeted treatment in areas that require special attention, such as scars or stretch marks.
  • Faster Recovery: Some patients experience quicker healing and reduced downtime with PRP microneedling compared to regular microneedling alone. The growth factors in PRP can aid in tissue repair, leading to a potentially faster recovery period.

Long-Lasting Results: PRP microneedling can lead to longer-lasting outcomes compared to regular microneedling. The regenerative effects of PRP can extend the benefits of the

Once you and your healthcare provider have decided that PRP microneedling is a suitable option for you, a small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm. This process is similar to a routine blood test you might experience during a regular medical check-up. After the blood draw, the collected sample will be placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other components of the blood. This step usually takes around 5-10 minutes.
